Flapping
ends here.
iFlapper detects unstable network elements — interfaces, routing neighbors and spanning tree bouncing up and down — and eliminates them before they take your network with them.
What it detects
Not every fault can be caught by network devices or standard monitoring tools. iFlapper is built specifically to recognize the repeating up/down patterns of an unstable network:
Interfaces
Network device interfaces periodically changing status between on and off.
Routing neighbors
Routing protocol neighbors periodically connecting and disconnecting. Supported: OSPF and EIGRP.
MPLS neighbors
MPLS neighbors periodically connecting and disconnecting.
Spanning tree
Spanning tree periodically sending “topology change” notifications.
How it responds
Choose how much power to hand over: stay informed, or let iFlapper act.
Notify the administrator
When instability is detected, iFlapper sends the administrator a notification describing the fault and the action that should be taken to fix it. You stay in control of every change.
Eliminate the fault
iFlapper connects to the affected device via SSH and disconnects the unstable element — a network interface, an OSPF, EIGRP or MPLS neighbor — securing the stability of the rest of the network.
Automatic recovery cycle
Inputs & platform
iFlapper monitors the network through three independent sources:
Runs anywhere
iFlapper is suitable for Windows, Linux and other operating systems or subsystems with Python 3.6 and a Java operating environment.
Modules & licensing
iFlapper has a modular architecture. The table below describes the modules available to order.
